Madison Utilities Hydraulic Water Model Master Plan

triangle triangle 2

Krebs calibrated Madison Utilities’ hydraulic model in 2017. Due to the large amount of growth and abundant use of irrigation in the area, Krebs worked alongside Madison Utilities to understand and implement the varying hydraulic demand patterns into the model to have an accurate model calibration. Krebs used the calibrated WaterGEMS hydraulic model to identify system improvements needed to meet current and future demands within Madison Utilities’ service area and to identify system improvements needed to supply wholesale customers. The evaluation concluded an expansion of the water treatment plant and raw water transmission main was required to keep pace with the rapid growth. Large diameter transmission piping was also required to provide the system with the additional capacity added at the water treatment plant. The water treatment plant expansion is under construction and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2024.
